2nd Annual
Bobby Thompson
Argentine Tango weekend
February 10-12, 2012
New location: 2053 Gottingen Street, Halifax
We are excited to be
working in a new location, a bright open space suitable for up to 30
students per class. This smaller class size will create a more
intimate environment, so don’t miss the opportunity to be a participant.

The teacher:
Bobby Thompson was
attracted to Argentine tango twenty years ago while still dancing in
professional dance companies. He became an instructor at Montreal’s
Graffiti Tango for five years, and then in 1997, Bobby and Carol
Horowitz co-founded Studio Tango. Success came immediately. Today Studio
Tango has an outstanding reputation as one of the leading centres for
tango instruction in North America. An exacting attention to pedagogy
and the dedication of its excellent instructors have created a unique
and valued centre for tango enthusiasts.
Bobby takes pleasure in
helping his students appreciate the way the body can be trained to
accentuate the natural elegance of the tango. His teaching style is
infused with strict attention to
technique, a sense of humour, a commitment to help students commune with
the music of tango, and an invitation for individuals and couples to
develop their own dance, their own tango. Tomas Howlin, a long-time and
valued member of the teaching staff at Studio Tango, whose regular
visits to Halifax to teach here are invariably keenly anticipated, has
noted: "Along with his warm smile, Bobby brings the wealth of twenty
years of tango experience wherever he goes. He is always approachable
and fun to have as a teacher. You will leave Bobby's class with precise
and clear information, as well as the sense that you've moved forward in
your understanding of this dance."
